Weight and horsepower are the two biggest levers in quarter-mile performance. This calculator uses well-known drag-racing estimation formulas to predict elapsed time (ET) and trap speed purely from weight and power, giving you a quick ballpark before you ever hit the strip.

These are estimates, not guarantees. Real-world results depend heavily on traction, gearing, tire compound, launch technique, driver skill, altitude, and drivetrain losses — two identical spec sheets can produce meaningfully different times at the track.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why might my actual ET differ from the estimate?

These formulas assume ideal traction and a clean launch. Wheel spin, poor gearing, an inexperienced driver, high elevation, or hot weather can all add real seconds to your actual time regardless of what the spec sheet says.

Does this account for drivetrain power loss?

No — enter your actual flywheel or crank horsepower, not wheel horsepower, for the formula to work as intended. If you only have a dyno wheel-hp number, it will already be somewhat conservative.
